Gatherings, lectures, and forward-looking discussions.
Hosted by the members of the UC Davis SING Lab, with support from the Center for AI and Experimental Futures and the UC Davis Depts. of Computer Science and Cinema & Digital Media.
Computational Artifice brings together work at the intersection of AI, procedural generation, interactive narrative, and computational media. Rather than treating computation as a tool for seamless realism, the symposium asks how artifice itself can become expressive through rules, simulations, generative systems, authored constraints, and algorithmic surprises that produce new forms of agency, performance, and meaning. The event explores how constructed intelligences and procedural worlds can reveal, rather than conceal, the expressive machinery of digital media.
